WHY ARE WE DOING IT?

There are two ways of spreading light, to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it– We at Light and Shine organisation want to be the mirror that will reflect the light from sun to the lives of people where electricity has not reached yet even in this 21st century. We know that light will shine only in darkness; we want to shine in the darkness of the two billion homes around the world.

The foundation of this world lies in the deeds of giving; we understand the great kindness towards the unfortunate can bring a positive change in the world. Illuminating the homes of the under provided will bring more people to the front line of the society helping them to be more productive in lives.

Women and children are the most affected by darkness, the safety concerns are one major concern of being in dark with limited access to light. Safety of women and children is one benefit of bringing light to their lives. We believe we can make a difference in their lives by bringing light to their lives, helping them to uplift them giving them new hopes for helping them see life in a new direction. Our work is to discover the world’s most under-privileged homes and then give our whole heart to uplift them by spreading lights in their lives. We believe that we all have the ability to change the world, but the difference is how we use it.

The kerosene lamps used by the people can cost them a whole lot of money corresponding to their income, where as solar lamps can cost them nothing to illuminate their homes. Another aspect of our project is that, our work can help the people to reduce the risk of many health issues that the kerosene lamps and other unhealthy light sources can cause. The soot from these sources contain high amount of carbon, with the consumption of the soot by breathing can cause serious healthy issues including lung cancer.

Imagine how the people who cannot afford electricity in homes can afford to treat the severe health issues caused by these unhealthy light sources. This basic change in replacing their unhealthy light sources for the best natural light source from the sun can transform their lives in many such ways. These are the reasons why we are doing these projects, and the importance of this small change in the lives of the people in 2 billion homes yet to be illuminated by the sun.

5000 Houses have been benefited Till now via this project…

NEWS

Kerosene lamps that light millions of homes in developing countries have a dark side: black carbon – fine particles of soot released into the atmosphere. The World Bank estimates that breathing kerosene fumes is the equivalent of smoking two packets of cigarettes a day and two-thirds of adult females with lung cancer in developing nations are non-smokers.
